Lawrence Raphael Keels is an author of African-American and Trinidad descent. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, and spent the larger part of his adolescent and teenage years in the small town of is it Laurens, SC. He is a graduate of Laurens District 55 high school. After graduating from high school, Lawrence joined the act of duty army at the age of 17. He served in various parts of the world, including Germany, Korea, Kuwait, and Iraq, numerous medals and accolades during his service. He received his first college degree from the University of Alaska Anchorage. After retiring from the army in 2004, he worked as a substitute teacher and on 2006 he returned to college at the university of South Carolina, where he study to be a middle school teacher. Upon completion, he taught history and mathematics in middle school from 2010 to 2020. Lawrence always had a vivid imagination and artistic flare, prompting him to write poems and short stories in his pastime.
